Nidhi Sharma’s Abstract Himalayan Landscapes
Echoes of Silence, a solo exhibition by Nidhi Sharma, is on display at the Convention Centre Foyer, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, from 11th to 15th July 2026. The exhibition presents a series of abstract landscapes inspired by the Himalayas. It also reflects Nidhi’s spiritual journey and her decades-long engagement with the mountains.
The paintings draw deeply from the teachings of her Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi. However, Echoes of Silence goes beyond the physical geography of the Himalayas. Instead, Nidhi explores perception, memory, and spiritual reflection through abstract landscapes.
Featuring around 20 works, the exhibition invites viewers on a meditative journey through colour and texture. As a result, the paintings create a quiet space for reflection and contemplation.

Paintings by Nidhi Sharma
Slow and intuitive, Nidhi’s meditative approach shapes her creative practice and engagement with nature. She looks beyond physical forms and draws instead from memory and lived experience. For over three decades, she worked as a Pranic healer and Reiki Grandmaster. During this time, she taught Reiki, meditation, and various healing techniques. She later turned to painting full-time.
Nidhi Sharma and Her Meditative Art Practice
Nidhi does not aim to depict the physical appearance of the mountains. Instead, she uses the Himalayas as a starting point. Her paintings focus on the emotional residue of encountering them.
As she explains, “I don’t paint the mountains as they appear. I paint the feeling they leave behind.” For Nidhi, the Himalayas represent silence, reflection, and rejuvenation.
Her art offers an abstract interpretation of the Himalayas. It remains rooted in individual perception and feeling. She layers soft whites, luminous blues, earthy ochres, muted greens, and warm golds. Together, these colours create an atmosphere that reflects the stillness of the mountains and the changing skies.
Moreover, her textured brushstrokes suggest the jagged terrain. In contrast, softer hues evoke the subtle movement of the sky. Through these elements, Nidhi transforms her memories of the Himalayas into an interior landscape.

The Spiritual Journey Behind Nidhi Sharma’s Paintings
Nidhi Sharma’s paintings often evoke a sense of calm among viewers. Therefore, they reinforce her belief that art can offer a rare pause in a fast-paced world.
“If someone stands before my work for a few moments and feels a little quieter, more present, or simply takes a deep breath, then the painting has done its job,” she says.
Curatorial advisor Uma Nair also reflects on the spiritual quality of Nidhi’s work. She describes the foyer as a historic yet intimate exhibition space. Nidhi Sharma has painted the Indian Himalayas throughout her artistic journey. Consequently, the mountains remain an enduring part of her inner landscape, even after she left their environs and made Mumbai her home.
Echoes of Silence invites contemplation. It encourages viewers to reflect on the passage from silence to eternity. It also considers the movement from the Maya of appearances towards the Absolute.
These idyllic landscapes evoke the ancient dictum Tat Tvam Asi—“Thou Art That.” Furthermore, Nidhi’s experience as a Pranic healer and Reiki Grandmaster adds another dimension to the meditative quality of her paintings.
Ultimately, Nidhi Sharma’s work stands at the threshold between experience and memory. She layers personal observations, emotions, and reflections onto the canvas. Through this process, she engages with the sublimity of the Himalayas and reshapes it through paint and lived experience.
