The Dvaita Dualities exhibition in New Delhi dives into life’s opposites, from black and white to heavy and light. Curated by Ankon Mitra at The Lexicon Art, this group show features 11 artists. They mix paintings, sculptures, and installations to reveal how contrasts blend into oneness, much as India’s bustling streets do. Opening on 18 April 2026, it runs for a month and challenges dull gallery spaces with vibrant clashes.
Exhibition Overview
Dvaita (द्वैत): Dualities spotlights dualism from Indian philosophy. Artists explore pairs like gold and silver, squares and circles, canvas and steel. The gallery space dances with these opposites—walls meet ceilings in playful tension. This setup mirrors real life in India, where mansions stand next to slums.
Curator Ankon Mitra’s Vision
Ankon Mitra, an architect turned sculptor, leads the show. “Dvaita visualises these contrasts, echoing Eastern philosophies where opposites fuel meaning—maximalism with minimalism, yin and yang,” he says. Over four years, he curated works that capture India’s mosaic: cows near malls, rich and poor side by side. Dualities must be lived to grasp art’s depth.
Key Themes of Opposites
The Dvaita Dualities exhibition in New Delhi uncovers how blue meets red, shiny faces rough. Precise shapes hug amorphous forms. Street scenes inspire it—Gulmohar trees line broken paths, humans and cows dodge traffic. India calls this diversity, not chaos. Art here resolves into Advaita (अद्वैत), a sense of unity.
