Design Mumbai is headed by a trio of show production and design specialists whose combined experience of over 60 years positions the event as a key player in the international design calendar. Organised by Montgomery Group, the UK’s longest-running independent events organiser, Design Mumbai joins a portfolio of over 50 events across 15 countries.
Ian Rudge
Ian Rudge is an event organiser and consultant with over 25 years of experience in the design sector. Following a successful career in publishing, Rudge co-founded 100% Design in 1995, the UK’s most successful design event. After a successful sale to Reed Exhibitions in 1999, Rudge developed 100% Moscow and 100% Tokyo, before co-founding London Design Fair (formerly Tent London) in 2007.
A published author, Rudge is an internationally respected member of the design and exhibition communities. As Business Development Director at Clarion Events, he launched and developed trade events Home in 2012 and Craft in 2014, alongside home and gift event Top Drawer. Following Clarion’s acquisition of their China events in 2019, Rudge guided the development of Design Shanghai and the launch of Sustainable Design China Beijing in 2022 and Design Shenzhen in 2023.
Piyush Suri
Piyush Suri is the founder of Handmade in Britain, a platform that champions and supports designer-making talent across the British Isles and works as a mentor for new creative businesses. Suri has over 20 years of experience working in the craft and design sector in the UK, Europe, and India, where he has curated and successfully organised over 28 contemporary craft and design fairs.
Suri ran his own interiors brand between 2008 and 2016, selling work internationally and exhibiting at Maison & Objet, Paris, and ICFF New York. He has appeared as a judge in the BBC2 TV series Paul Martin’s Handmade Revolution (October 2012), Channel 4 series Kirstie’s Celebrity Craft Masters (July 2019), and as a mentor in three series of BBC1’s Make it at Market (2022 and 2023). Suri is also a designer, brand owner, event organiser, and TV presenter for the BBC.
Michael Dynan
Michael Dynan has over 20 years of experience in launching and acquiring over 30 successful event titles. He was one of the founding directors of Media 10 and co-founded Design Shanghai, one of the world’s most prestigious international design events. Dynan has launched over 30 live event brands which are now staged annually.
Montgomery Group
Montgomery Group, the parent organisation, is the UK’s longest-running independent event organiser with over 50 events and co-locates in 15 countries. The group’s portfolio includes Art Central in Hong Kong, Art SG in Singapore, Photo New York, and the highly regarded India Art Fair, Delhi, which has been staged successfully for 15 years.
Design Mumbai 2025 takes place from 26-29 November at Jio World Garden in the heart of Mumbai.
