Art Fervour is set to launch Kolkata Art Weekender, a three-day city-wide art festival taking place from 21 to 23 November 2025 across Kolkata. The inaugural edition marks the city’s first major collective contemporary art event, bringing together leading galleries, artists, and cultural institutions.
Kolkata Art Weekender will feature a diverse program of art exhibitions, heritage walks, workshops, film screenings, printmaking sessions, and interactive events at venues including Experimenter, TRI Art and Culture, Kolkata Centre for Creativity, and the Alipore Museum.
Following the success of previous editions of the Art Fervour Weekender held across multiple cities, this hyperlocal Kolkata edition focuses on the intersection of visual art, design, film, technology, and heritage. The initiative aims to engage new audiences, particularly the youth, by making art accessible, immersive, and community-driven.
Highlights of the 2025 edition include private studio visits with artists Suhasini Kejriwal and Rathin Barman, a zine-making workshop and paint party on the Hooghly River with The Barge Company, and printmaking sessions with DAG Museums at Alipore Museum. Heritage and Art Walks Calcutta will offer outdoor guided tours exploring the city’s cultural landmarks—from the Asiatic Society’s origins to early museum histories.
At the Alipore Museum, visitors can experience A Winter Summer, Sohrab Hura’s solo exhibition by Experimenter, and The Babu and The Bazaar, a group exhibition by DAG Museums. Experimenter will present The Line is Time by Radhika Khimji at its Hindustan Road space and a walkthrough of The Forest by Sohrab Hura at its Ballygunge Place gallery, complemented by a vinyl listening session by Tushar Bagla. The Kolkata Centre for Creativity will host The Lens of Revolution: A Retrospective on Shyam Benegal, while TRI Art & Culture will present ADDA: The Third Space, a St+art India Foundation-curated exhibition and game night exploring street culture and urban life.
All events will run simultaneously over three days, with a mix of free and ticketed experiences. Registration is available through Urbanaut. Participating institutions and collaborators include DAG Museums, Experimenter, Kolkata Centre for Creativity, Heritage and Art Walks Calcutta, TRI Art & Culture, Rathin Barman, Suhasini Kejriwal, The Barge Company, and Tushar Bagla.
Speaking about the initiative, Nivedita Poddar, Founder and Creative Director of Art Fervour, said the event evolved from their earlier multi-city weekenders:
“We wanted to continue our mission of making the arts accessible to all and felt that Kolkata deserved an arts festival of its own. Kolkata Art Weekender brings art to young urban audiences while celebrating the city’s vibrant creative community.”
