Applications are open until August 31 for the fully funded, two-month residency programme in New Delhi
Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency (DAAR) has announced the open call for Winter Solace 2026, a fully funded two-month residency programme for emerging artists and creative practitioners based in India. The residency will take place from October 15 to December 15, 2026, at the Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency in Fatehpur Beri, New Delhi.
Applicants can submit their applications until August 31, 2026, at 11:59 pm IST. The programme is open to practitioners working in contemporary visual arts, with a particular focus on painting, drawing, and expanded or interdisciplinary practices. There is no age limit for applicants.
Located within the Ajitara family farmhouse, DAAR offers artists an environment removed from the intensity of the city. The residency is designed to support self-led, non-prescriptive and process-based practices, allowing participants to develop their research and creative work at their own pace. Rather than emphasising predetermined outcomes, the programme focuses on contextual exploration, professional development and sustained engagement with Delhi’s art ecosystem.
Selected residents will receive individual furnished studio spaces, twin-sharing accommodation and meals for the duration of the programme. The residency also includes a production and research honorarium of INR 50,000 and a travel grant of INR 10,000.
Residents will have access to DAAR’s library, shared co-working areas, audio-visual facilities and recreation room. The programme will additionally include mentorship sessions, peer-to-peer exchanges, workshops, institutional visits, talks, guidance from senior artists and curatorial feedback.
The residency will conclude with an open studio, providing participants with an opportunity to present their work and research to audiences. According to DAAR, the creative outputs may also offer artists opportunities to showcase their work through group exhibitions at Gallery Dotwalk.
Winter Solace 2026 is part of DAAR’s biannual flagship residency programme and marks its sixth two-month edition. Through the programme, the residency aims to bring together artists and practitioners from diverse disciplines while encouraging artistic experimentation, collaborative exchange and greater conceptual and technical clarity.
Interested applicants can submit their complete application through the official Google Form. Successful applicants will be contacted by mid-October 2026.
