3 New Institutions Are Coming to India Art Fair 2025

India Art Fair 2025 is just a week away now. Global art enthusiasts and artists have kept their eyes peeled out for all the debuts that could be seen at the esteemed South-Asian Arts Festival, one of the biggest contemporary art exhibitions in India. With IAF starting from 6th February 2025,

The Platform Section at India Art Fair 2025

Amongst the numerous sections, the Platform category of the contemporary art exhibition, emphasizes traditional and contemporary art in India that is currently brewing up in India and South Asia, offering artists a space to display their distinct cultural legacies. In the 16th edition of IAF, 7 art institutions are displaying their works, amongst which 3 are making their debut. These include the following.

1. BOITO is supported by the Devi Art Foundation (Bengaluru / New Delhi)

BOITO, a home-grown brand by Richa Maheshwari will debut in India Art Fair 2025. The Devi Art Foundation will back them. The brand brings remarkable individuals from lone parts of Odisha to give form to new contemporary art in India. They have made a mark across the globe for their ubiquitous aesthetic, and skilled handloom techniques. BOITO’s art is essentially, indian art influenced by global styles.

Established in June 2022, BOITO preserves these traditional crafts and promotes their artistry on a larger stage. They also aim to inculcate financial stability into their artisans. They are supported by the Devi Art Foundation. The nonprofit venue has allowed the brand innovation free from commercial constraints, providing an art centre for local artists.

2. Bridge Bharat (Gurugram)

Bridge Bharat was established by Aakanksha Singh in 2022 in Gurugram. They believe in sustainable artistry through empathy. The institution is committed to safeguarding and promoting India’s traditional arts. Bridge Bharat has worked alongside numerous Indian legacy artist families to produce artworks, installations, films, and exhibitions. They strongly emphasise the fusion of traditional and modern art.

Bridge Bharat presents the distinct community languages, stories, insights, and perspectives of each art form. Thus far, they have showcased more than 50 master artists across 18 states. They are rooted in Indigenous values, innovation, and experimentation, which ensures that contemporary tribal art is celebrated everywhere.

3. Gondwana Art Project (New Delhi)

The Gondwana Art Project is simply vibrant Indian folk art in modern times, although its core remains Gond, Bhil, and Warli paintings. The project is all about honoring the rich cultural legacy of the tribal communities in Gondwana region of central India, in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

At the heart of the project is its emphasis on storytelling, which illustrates how artists merge modern viewpoints with traditional stories. By reimagining traditional crafts using contemporary methods, the project pushes the limits between indigenous and modern art, focusing on the revival of traditional Indian art in today’s cultural environment.
