Somnath Bhatt’s “છાયારાષ્ટ્ર · Republic of Shadows” Opens at GALLERYSKE, New Delhi

GALLERYSKE, New Delhi, presents છાયારાષ્ટ્ર · Republic of Shadows, an exhibition by artist, designer, and writer Somnath Bhatt, on view from December 17, 2025, to January 21, 2026. This marks Bhatt’s first solo presentation in India and follows his growing international recognition for a practice that moves fluidly between digital form-making, mythic imagination, and material experimentation.

The exhibition features a new body of drawings and objects that delve into the artist’s ongoing engagement with silence, rupture, and the unstable territories of meaning. Bhatt describes his process as “tuning an antenna toward what cannot be fully said,” emphasizing form as a tool for sensing the unseen and the unspoken.

Based between New York City and Ahmedabad, Bhatt’s work often merges the visual languages of pixel-based design with the sensuous detail of traditional craft and ceremonial motifs. His distinct aesthetic vocabulary—situated between mythology and modern computation—constructs encounters that blur the line between the familiar and the speculative.

Over the past decade, Bhatt’s work has been exhibited at major platforms including India Art Fair (New Delhi)ICA (London)Art Week DubaiMécènes du Sud Montpellier-Sète, and Picture Room (New York), among others. In 2020, his first solo exhibition took place at ISA Gallery, Shanghai. His collaborative projects span multiple disciplines, with contributions to music, fashion, and editorial design through partnerships with artists such as MitskiNicolás Jaar, and Ali Sethi, as well as publications like The New York TimesThe New Yorker, and The Atlantic. Most recently, he completed an 80-foot mural at Wonder Cabinet in Bethlehem, Palestine.

છાયારાષ્ટ્ર · Republic of Shadows continues Bhatt’s exploration of perception, myth, and memory through sensorial and material translation, offering audiences a layered space between articulation and feeling.

The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday, 11 AM to 7 PM, at Galleryske, B74, Defence Colony, New Delhi, till 26th january 2026
