Anant Art presents Reverie. Pause. Rupture., a landmark group exhibition curated by noted art critic and curator Gayatri Sinha, running from April 2 to May 25, 2026, at the gallery’s flagship space in Safdarjung Enclave.
Featuring artists Aban Raza, Anju Dodiya, B. V. Suresh, Baiju Parthan, Gigi Scaria, Madhu Das, K. M. Madhusudhanan, Prajakta Potnis, Ranbir Kaleka, Riyas Komu, Shakuntala Kulkarni, Vasudha Thozhur, and Valson Kolleri, the exhibition traces the fluid relationship between continuity and disruption and how moments of stillness and rupture can inform creative transformation.
Drawing from ideas in philosopher Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Reverie, Sinha’s curatorial essay reflects on the diminishing space for daydreaming and introspection in an age of digital hyperactivity and constant surveillance. The show articulates “reverie” as a necessary act of resistance , a critical pause that invites reflection. In contrast, “rupture” emerges as a site of possibility, breaking rhythm to allow new worlds of thought to take shape.
Among the works on display is Baiju Parthan’s COSMOGRAPHIA – Distillation of Sentience (2026), a luminous acrylic on canvas that encapsulates the exhibition’s conceptual intersections of imagination, time, and consciousness. Each participating artist engages with these shifting states — of dreaming, halting, and breaking — to interpret how art navigates the tension between continuity and change.
For curator Gayatri Sinha, whose practice spans gender, media, and iconography, Reverie. Pause. Rupture. extends her long-standing engagement with the intellectual and emotive force of images. Sinha is the founder of Critical Collective, India’s pioneering online archive for art writing and research, and has curated major exhibitions at institutions including the Vancouver Art Gallery, KNMA, and the Bhau Daji Lad Museum.
Reverie. Pause. Rupture. will be on view at Anant Art, B-5/3, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi, from April 2 to May 25, 2026.
