The monsoon is more than a season in India. It has inspired music, poetry, crafts and stories for centuries. On 8 August 2026, Excurators returns with Baarish Season 2 | Chapter 2, an immersive cultural experience that explores this rich relationship between rain and Indian culture.
Taking place at The Tivoli, Chattarpur, New Delhi, the event is powered by Aadyam Handwoven and brings together musicians, storytellers, puppeteers, textile experts and performers. Designed as an immersive experience, Baarish Season 2 Chapter 2 invites visitors to see the monsoon as a living cultural tradition rather than simply a weather event.
Shubha Mudgal’s Ab Ke Sawan Takes Centre Stage
The highlight of Baarish Season 2 Chapter 2 is a live performance of Ab Ke Sawan by acclaimed vocalist Shubha Mudgal and her ensemble.
Originally released in 1999, Ab Ke Sawan remains one of India’s most loved musical works inspired by the rains. The performance blends Indian classical music, folk traditions and contemporary sounds while exploring emotions such as love, longing, hope and renewal. Through live music, the concert reflects how the monsoon continues to shape memory, identity and shared cultural experiences.
A Journey Through Music, Puppetry and Handwoven Traditions
The evening opens with Garaj and Baras, presented by Puppetshala Performing Arts and master puppeteer MD Shameem. Using traditional puppetry and storytelling, the performance introduces audiences to one of India’s oldest performing arts while celebrating the joy of the rainy season.
Another major attraction is the performance by the Ao Naga Choir, which brings rain songs from the oral traditions of Nagaland. Their choral music offers a glimpse into how communities in Northeast India have celebrated changing seasons through song for generations.
The programme also includes a special conversation presented by Aadyam Handwoven, exploring how India’s weaving traditions have drawn inspiration from the colours, textures and rhythms of the monsoon. Visitors can also attend a curated wine appreciation masterclass by Grover Zampa, designed to complement the evening’s atmosphere.
Excurators on the Vision Behind Baarish
Speaking about the event, Minhal Hasan, Founder and Managing Director of Excurators, said the idea behind Baarish has always gone beyond presenting a music festival.
He explained that rain has long been one of India’s greatest cultural storytellers, appearing in ragas, folk songs, textiles, puppetry and poetry. Hasan added that every edition of Baarish creates conversations between different artistic traditions, bringing together voices from across the country while celebrating the many ways communities have interpreted the same season.
Aadyam Handwoven Highlights Culture Beyond Textiles
Speaking about the collaboration, Manish Saksena, Business Lead at Aadyam Handwoven, said the partnership reflects the organisation’s belief in celebrating India’s wider cultural traditions.
