A Debut Exhibition of Home Design Objects at the Historic Burdwan Palace
Kolkata, India : Vikram Goyal Studio and Viya are proud to announce their first-ever joint showcase in Kolkata, marking a significant new chapter for both design houses. Set against the grand backdrop of the iconic Burdwan Palace, from June 18th to 21st , this landmark four-day exhibition is
presented in collaboration with 85 Lansdowne and hosted by Shalini Nopany and Pooja Goenka. This immersive presentation brings together for the first time the complete creative universes of Vikram Goyal Studio and Viya Home. Visitors will experience an expansive display of limited-edition furniture and sculptural objects from Vikram Goyal Studio alongside Viya’s vibrant, narrative-rich homeware and lifestyle collections. The exhibition also marks Vikram Goyal’s debut in Kolkata — a city the designer has long admired for its cultural sophistication and aesthetic heritage.
“This is a landmark moment for us — not just our first public showcase in Kolkata, but the first time we’re unveiling the full spectrum of our creative vision in a single space,”. “To have both Vikram Goyal Studio and Viya shown side by side is to celebrate craft, storytelling, and beauty at every scale of living.” shares Vikram Goyal.
At the heart of the exhibition are the Deity wall panels – Balaji, Hanumanji and Durga, each a dramatic sculptural statement that exemplifies the studio’s mastery of repoussé — an ancient technique of hand-hammered metalwork. Historically used in temple architecture across India, repoussé is reimagined at the studio through fluid forms and classical themes. Months of collaborative craftsmanship between designer and artisan culminate in each piece, where tradition meets innovation through material and method. Another highlight is Garden of Life, a wall mural that pays homage to India’s mythological and natural worlds. Peacocks, blackbucks, parrots, and monkeys animate a fantastical landscape, culminating in the majestic Gajasimha, a lion-elephant hybrid symbolizing power and protection. Created using repoussé, casting, and pietra dura inlay techniques, the mural incorporates semi-precious stones and delicate lighting to enhance its sculptural dynamism. Also featured is the Molten Tree Cabinet, where nature’s elemental forms are expressed in brass and matrix jasper, capturing the timeless vitality of tree trunks and foliage through abstract, molten shapes. Similarly, the Prism Console interprets the beauty of tessellation — its geometric brass structure composed of hand-hammered segments arranged in a cascading, architectural rhythm. Viya’s collection adds a contemporary counterpoint, offering a wide range of lifestyle products that are
accessible, versatile, and borderless in design. The brand blends artisanal mastery across brass, stone, cane, rope, and textiles — incorporating techniques such as hand embroidery, block printing, and stone inlay. From furniture and lighting to trays, vases, and cushions, each Viya piece is designed to infuse joy, meaning, and craftsmanship into everyday living.
