From August 27 to October 1, 2025, artists worldwide are invited to submit proposals for a unique live sculpting residency in Riyadh. The program will select twenty-five artists to create original sculptures on-site, with all completed works becoming permanent fixtures throughout Saudi Arabia’s capital city and enhancing its growing collection of public art. The residency will conclude with a public showcase of the finished pieces.
Alongside this artist call, Riyadh Art has unveiled the curatorial team for Tuwaiq Sculpture 2026. The panel includes Sarah Staton, a U.K.-based sculptor and director of Spatial Value Catalyst at the Royal College of Art; Rut Blees Luxemburg, a German-born artist, professor of urban aesthetics at the Royal College of Art, and co-director of Spatial Value Catalyst; and Lulwah Al Homoud, a Saudi Arabian visual communication specialist and acclaimed curator working from Riyadh with international curatorial experience.

This year’s program introduces two new material categories reflecting Riyadh Art’s evolving artistic vision: Granite + Stainless Steel Integration and Reclaimed Metal. The curatorial team will oversee artist selection and establish the thematic framework for the 2026 edition. Chosen participants will receive an artist fee plus comprehensive travel and lodging arrangements.

According to Sarah Alruwayti, director of the Tuwaiq Sculpture symposium at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, “Tuwaiq Sculpture invites artists from around the world to leave a lasting mark on Riyadh’s evolving urban landscape. Each edition builds on a growing legacy that connects communities through public art.”
The program has featured over 150 artists since its launch, with their sculptures now integrated into Riyadh Art’s permanent collection—including a notable installation of 35 works at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center. Through this ongoing initiative, Riyadh continues establishing itself as an international hub for creativity, public engagement, and cultural advancement.
