Founded in 2019 by Harshita Jhamtani, Harshita Jhamtani Designs is a Mumbai-based design studio specialising in handcrafted lighting, furniture, and sculptural objects. Rooted in the ideas of sustainability, material innovation, and functional art, the studio creates pieces that are timeless, tactile, and deeply personal.
With a background in architecture from the University of Mumbai and furniture design from the Florence Institute for Design International in Italy, Harshita brings together architectural precision with a strong sensitivity towards craft and material.
The studio is known for its minimalist yet sculptural design language — clean silhouettes, textured surfaces, and forms that interact beautifully with light and space. Every piece is handcrafted in India by skilled artisans, celebrating local craftsmanship while maintaining a contemporary global aesthetic.
One of the studio’s defining innovations is its signature stone-clay paste, developed using waste marble powder, waste glass powder, lime plaster, and adhesives. This sustainable material transforms industrial waste into refined surfaces with a unique tactile quality.
Harshita Jhamtani Designs works extensively with materials like stoneware clay, terrazzo, marble, travertine, alabaster, and hand-textured finishes, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. The studio also offers bespoke lighting and furniture solutions tailored for residential, hospitality, and commercial interiors.
In a short span, the studio has gained recognition from leading design platforms including Elle Decor India, Architectural Digest India, and Dubai Design Week. The studio also won the EDIDA India 2021 award in the lighting category for its Earth Collection.
Today, Harshita Jhamtani Designs stands as a new-age Indian design studio creating collectible pieces that balance simplicity, sustainability, craftsmanship, and emotional connection.
