Radhika’s second solo exhibition, Fragments in Play, is set to open from 10th October at 079|STORIES, Ahmedabad, unfolding as a dialogue between painting and ceramics. With curatorial advisory by Mihir Thakkar, the show explores the dynamic balance between structure and spontaneity, inviting viewers into a space of movement, openness, and play.
Presenting a new body of work rooted in her distinctive mark-making practice, Radhika’s canvases oscillate between expressionism and calligraphic suggestion. Her paintings carry an architectural weight, often appearing as totemic structures, while the interplay of colour, texture, and intuitive gesture generates moments of rupture within these forms. The artist allows curiosity and process to guide her, letting the works evolve organically rather than adhering to a fixed outcome.

Ceramics accompany the paintings as tactile extensions of her visual vocabulary. These sculptural forms reference themes of home, memory, and material presence, existing in the liminal space between functionality and art. Ornamentation, a recurring motif in the works reflects the cultural sensibilities of Oman, where Radhika currently lives and creates. The country’s intricate decorative traditions have subtly influenced her aesthetic language, merging craft with conceptual depth.
Within the gallery space, Fragments in Play transforms the white cube into a field of experimentation and introspection. The works evoke a sense of mysticism while maintaining a grounded, material presence. As the exhibition title suggests, memory and material do not seek resolution; instead, they scatter, gather, and reassemble in ever-shifting constellations, much like fragments of lived experience.

Radhika’s artistic process resists predictability. At its core lies rupture, a refusal to conform to expectation. Her paintings and ceramics emerge as entities with their own agency: playful, unpredictable, and alive. In this interplay between discipline and abandon, the artist redefines what it means to create in dialogue with one’s environment and inner world.
