Dhi Contemporary Presents Textile Art Exhibition Featuring Five Artists

Dhi Contemporary in Hyderabad will host “IN, ON, THROUGH, and AROUND,” a textile art exhibition running from October 28 to November 30, 2025. The show brings together five artists working across different geographies to explore contemporary approaches to textile as both medium and concept.

The exhibition features Ana Teresa Barboza, Dwimu Boro, Mahim Jana, Sabiha Dohadwala, and Shruti Mahajan, curated by Somedutta Mallik. Each artist engages with textile through varied experimental practices that bridge traditional craft techniques with contemporary art discourse.

According to the curatorial framework, the exhibition examines textiles through spatial relationships, investigating how fabrics exist as both two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects. The show positions textile as a vessel for memory, exploring how materials absorb and retain traces of time, place, and human interaction.

The artists draw from architectural forms, natural landscapes, and personal histories, translating these references into patterns and structures within textile work. The exhibition considers the dual nature of textiles—their capacity to be both functional and symbolic objects that navigate domestic, cultural, and aesthetic spaces.

“IN, ON, THROUGH, and AROUND” will be on view at Dhi Contemporary, located at Bodhi House in Madhapur, Hyderabad, Telangana. The gallery operates as a platform for emerging and established contemporary artists, focusing on experimental practices that challenge conventional art forms.
