Depths of Silence, the debut solo exhibition by Manaram Gamage as a represented artist is being held at 138 Galle Road, Colombo 03. This body of work marks an evolution in the artist’s practice as he explores the myriad ways in which the weight of isolation on the psyche can be manifested on the human body through sculptural and painting interventions.
Depths of Silence will be on view at PRSFG, 138 Galle Road, Colombo 03 from 13.06.2025 to 07.07.2025, from 10 a.m.–6 p.m

Depths of Silence is a sustained inquiry into the solitary human figure—explored not as an idealised subject, but as a vessel shaped and moulded by lived experiences. Through a deeply intuitive sculptural practice that blurs the boundaries between figuration and abstraction, Gamage harnesses the raw resistance of materials, such as resin and cement, to give form to emotional states that are intangible. The resulting sculptures create a visceral landscape where the human condition is exposed to the viewer.

Born in 1997, Manaram Gamage holds a BVA (Hons) in Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Visual and Performing Arts, Colombo. In 2024, he presented his debut solo exhibition at Paradise Road Galleries in Colombo. Influenced by Auguste Rodin’s expressive language but pushing toward an intense, more abstract language, Gamage invites viewers to see these forms not merely as depictions of individual selves but as shared reflections of existential solitude.

Depths of Silence engages in a dynamic struggle between a need to reveal and repress, a duality that materialises in both his sculptures and paintings. Gamage sensitively and skillfully engages an intense visual language with its instinctive and gestural flourish to portray an emotional state, yet leaving space for ambiguity and interpretation.

For art aficionados seeking inspiration and enlightenment, depth of silence is an unmissable opportunity to interact with Gamage’s sublime art.
