Renowned artist Bhaskar Singha’s fifth solo exhibition in the “Realms of Peace” series was inaugurated yesterday evening at Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, presenting a collection of spiritually inspired works that explore themes of unity and contemplation through watercolor and acrylic mediums.
The exhibition, which runs through August 10th, showcases Singha’s nearly three-decade evolution as an artist, from his early luminous watercolors to his current acrylic compositions that maintain meditative qualities while addressing contemporary social concerns. The works draw inspiration from the ancient Indian philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” – “The world is one family” – promoting the interconnectedness of all life beyond cultural and religious boundaries.
“For me, painting is a spiritual process,” Singha explains. “It allows me to feel joy, sorrow, and stillness all at once. Just as the wind constantly shifts, our emotions and lives are always changing — and I try to express that energy through my art.”

The current body of work demonstrates Singha’s distinctive visual language that bridges classical Indian thought with modern concerns. His canvases feature subtle symbolism and delicate color layering, creating visual spaces that feel simultaneously personal and universal. The exhibition includes works spanning his thematic range, from social commentary pieces addressing issues like child labor to tributes honoring iconic figures such as Tagore, Vivekananda, and Satyajit Ray.
Singha’s artistic practice has evolved significantly since his early career focus on watercolor’s soft luminosity and technical finesse achieved through multiple translucent layers. His transition to acrylic on canvas has allowed him to expand his thematic scope while preserving the contemplative essence that defines his work. Recurring motifs in his paintings, including solitary runners and quiet beach scenes, bring together movement and inner stillness on canvas.
Singha has exhibited extensively across India’s leading art venues, including Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, Birla Academy in Kolkata, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in Bangalore, and Canvas Art Gallery in New Delhi. His previous exhibition at Visual Art Gallery in 2023, also part of the “Realms of Peace” series, received acclaim for its thoughtful presentation and emotional resonance.
With “Realms of Peace – V,” Singha continues offering viewers what he describes as “not just paintings, but a space for inward reflection — where colour and form become a language of silence, healing, and unity.” Each canvas serves as a quiet meditation on transformation, both external and internal, inviting contemplation of universal values like peace, love, and unity.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to witness how Singha’s artistic vision has matured while maintaining its core spiritual foundation, presenting works that function as visual spaces for reflection in an increasingly fragmented world.
“Realms of Peace – V” continues through August 10, 2025, at Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, Lodi Road, New Delhi. Gallery hours are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.
