Art Heritage gallery is hosting “A Rising Tide: Women Artists from the Alkazi Collection” from October 16 to November 18, 2025, at its location in Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. The exhibition marks the centenary of Ebrahim Alkazi’s birth and features works by 42 women artists.
Curated by Nancy Adajania, the exhibition draws from the collection assembled by Ebrahim Alkazi (1925–2020) and Roshen Alkazi (1924–2007), who presented the work of more than 200 women artists during their five-decade career as gallerists and arts patrons.
The exhibition includes works by both Indian and international artists, including Arpita Singh, Nalini Malani, Nasreen Mohamedi, Yayoi Kusama, and Zarina, among others. The displayed pieces span multiple mediums including printmaking, photography, mixed media, painting, and ceramics.

Notable works in the exhibition include Arpana Caur’s “Visarjan” (1984), painted following Delhi’s anti-Sikh riots; Sabrina’s “Connections” (2000), a mixed media box assemblage; and Latika Katt’s “Red Ant Dwelling” (1987), a monochrome photograph taken from a ground-level perspective.
The Alkazis founded Art Heritage in 1977 after Ebrahim Alkazi served as Director of the National School of Drama. The gallery has since held over 650 exhibitions and produced more than 450 catalogues.
According to Adajania, the collection showcases the diversity of women artists’ practices across different mediums and artistic movements. The exhibition catalogue includes essays by Adajania, Amal Allana, Roobina Karode, and Dr. Parul Dave-Mukherji.
The exhibition is part of Alkazi 100, a broader centenary celebration organized by Art Heritage, The Alkazi Foundation for the Arts, and Alkazi Theatre Archives.
