Art Basel Awards
The fair will announce the gold medalists of the inaugural Art Basel Awards on December 4. The awards program, launched in February 2025, aims to spotlight “exceptional achievement” across various creative landscapes. Thirty-six previously announced medalists will vote among themselves to determine the final recipients.
Art Basel Miami Beach serves as the anchor for Miami Art Week, which typically runs from December 1-7 and includes dozens of satellite art fairs, public installations, and cultural events throughout the city, particularly in Wynwood, the Design District, and South Beach.
The exhibitor announcement comes during what has been described as a prolonged bear market in the art industry, which has seen multiple major gallery closures and strategic pauses by other art organizations. Despite this challenging environment, Art Basel Miami Beach maintains its exhibitor count at levels similar to recent years (283 in 2024, 277 in 2023).
Bridget Finn emphasized that “the strength and caliber of this year’s exhibitors reaffirms Art Basel Miami Beach’s centrality within the global art ecosystem” and described the edition as “bold, rigorous, and attuned to the moment,” highlighting the fair’s role as a critical gateway for introducing international artists to the American market.
