Look. Look Again. - A Solo Exhibition by Anil Rawat

Curated by Samar Jodha
26–31 March 2026 | Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

A compelling new exhibition, Look. Look Again., featuring the works of artist Anil Rawat and curated by Samar Jodha, will be on view at the Visual Arts Gallery from 26th to 31st March 2026.

At its core, Look. Look Again. is not just an exhibition—it is an experience shaped through a deep creative collaboration between artist and curator. While Rawat’s practice forms the foundation, Jodha’s curatorial approach extends across concept, spatial design, sequencing, and text, creating an immersive environment where every element contributes to a singular narrative.

Working digitally using only a mouse, Rawat creates striking figurative works that transcend their medium. Rooted in the visual language of Indian devotional iconography, the works move beyond religion to explore universal human qualities—devotion, courage, humility, and service. These are not presented as distant ideals, but as reflections of what already exists within each viewer.

What began as a body of prints evolved organically into a multi-dimensional exhibition, with the introduction of sculpture marking a significant extension of Rawat’s practice. These sculptural works emerge not as additions, but as a natural progression of an ongoing artistic dialogue.

The exhibition space at India Habitat Centre has been deliberately designed to heighten this engagement. Set in darkness, each work is revealed in isolation through focused light, guiding visitors through a carefully constructed journey of encounter and reflection. The experience unfolds gradually—inviting viewers to move beyond the immediacy of first impressions and engage more deeply.

“I did not come to Anil Rawat’s work as a curator. I came to it as someone who stood in front of it and did not want to leave. That is usually where the real work begins.”
says Samar Jodha, Curator

As the title suggests, Look. Look Again. is both an invitation and an instruction. It asks viewers to pause, to stay, and to reconsider what they see—and, in doing so, to confront a more personal question: who are you, beneath what the world has asked you to become?

The exhibition concludes with a simple yet resonant line: The looking does not stop here. It is not an ending, but a continuation—carrying the experience beyond the gallery and into the everyday.
