Tabula Rasa 2.0, designed by 23 Degrees Design Shift, emerges as a striking urban oasis within Hyderabad’s bustling financial district. Conceived as a vibrant music and dining destination, the restaurant is envisioned as a cultural retreat that stands in contrast to the surrounding glass-clad corporate landscape.
The project is shaped around a central open-to-sky courtyard, carefully designed to function as the heart of the 14,770-square-foot venue. Planned as both a performance space and a social anchor, the courtyard is optimized to create an immersive audio-visual and tactile experience. The indoors and outdoors are seamlessly connected through sliding glazing systems, allowing fluid transitions between the semi-open bar, enclosed spaces, and the open-air music venue.
The architectural language is defined through a balance of solidity and openness. A segmented sloped roof is positioned above concrete and steel structures, while dynamic roofing systems and a series of jack arches introduce rhythm and spatial character. Warm lighting and lush landscaping are thoughtfully integrated to enhance the ambience and maintain a comfortable microclimate throughout the restaurant.
Materiality plays a central role in shaping the identity of the space. Grey cement oxide plaster, rough jet-black granite, acacia wood furniture, and lakha red granite flooring are combined to create a tactile and evolving palette. Suspended wicker panels further soften the linear geometry, introducing warmth and organic texture into the setting.
Sustainability is woven into the design through passive strategies such as natural lighting, cross-ventilation, shaded glazing, and an innovative cooling system powered by recycled water from the kitchen RO plant. Through these carefully considered interventions, Tabula Rasa 2.0 is positioned not merely as a restaurant, but as an immersive sensory experience where architecture, music, and community converge.
