In a stirring blend of art and patriotism, celebrated sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a striking 6-foot-high sand sculpture on the shores of Puri beach, Odisha, paying tribute to the Indian armed forces for their swift and decisive action during Operation Sindoor. This tribute follows India’s targeted strikes on May 7, a response to the heinous Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 innocent lives in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.

With the message “Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Justice Served” etched boldly into the sculpture, Pattnaik’s creation resonates with the emotions of a nation that has once again watched its armed forces rise in defence of its people.
“Through my sand art, I salute our jawans who contributed to Operation Sindoor,” Pattnaik said. “I extend my gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the government.”
A Sacred Symbol Reimagined
The sculpture’s core concept centres on the traditional Indian symbol ‘Sindoor’, typically associated with sacredness, marriage, and feminine strength. In Pattnaik’s hands, sindoor becomes a metaphor for transformation—from ritual adornment to a symbol of justice and vengeance.
“This art shows how sindoor turns into strength and the enemy is destroyed,” explained Pattnaik.

“We salute the Indian Army and Air Force through our sand art,” said Pattnaik, who has represented India in over 65 international sand sculpture championships.
The sculpture quickly became a focal point on Puri beach, attracting thousands of visitors, photographers, and news crews, many of whom shared images and sentiments online, turning the installation into a viral tribute.
Operation Sindoor: A Measured Response with a Clear Message
On the morning of May 7, Indian forces launched Operation Sindoor, a carefully calibrated military operation targeting nine terror infrastructure sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Among the high-value targets were the Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba facilities in Muridke.
The strikes were in direct response to the Pahalgam massacre, which left 26 civilians dead, reigniting national outrage and calls for justice.
India’s Ministry of Defence described the strikes as a “restrained yet resolute” act of self-defence, emphasising that only those responsible for the terror attack were targeted.
