Voyage of the Soul: Remya Brijesh’s Solo Exhibition at Bikaner House

Remya Brijesh, an artist and educator based in Gurugram, presents her solo exhibition Voyage of the Soul at Kalamkaar Gallery in Bikaner House, New Delhi. Curated by Georgina Maddox, the show runs from November 27 to December 3, 2025, daily from 11am to 7pm.

The exhibition features a selection of Brijesh’s conceptually mature works, drawn from nearly 60 pieces in her oeuvre. Her practice explores memory, belonging, resilience, and interconnectedness, influenced by Kerala’s temple murals with their intricate lines and vivid contrasts. Born in Ottapalam, Kerala, and raised near Kilimanoor, the birthplace of Raja Ravi Varma, Brijesh traces her artistic roots to her late father, Shri K. Chandrahasan, a painter and alumnus of the College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum.

Curator Georgina Maddox describes the works as a meditation on porous borders between land and water, self and other, memory and moment. Maddox highlights Brijesh’s empathy for the feminine, the elderly, and the child, shaped by her grandparents’ influence. The artist states that each brushstroke returns to childhood rivers, her grandparents’ home, and the stories that formed her, emphasizing presence and invisible connections.

Brijesh’s artworks have appeared in exhibitions across India. She views art as an omnipresent companion, from her father’s studio to her own practice rooted in nature’s forms, rhythms, and colors. The show invites viewers to reflect on personal narratives through her visual storytelling.
