Abir Art Workshops at the Ahmedabad International Book Festival

Abir India brings a series of hands-on art workshops to this year’s Ahmedabad International Book Festival, inviting visitors to explore their creativity from 24 October to 1 November 2026 at the Event Centre, Sabarmati Riverfront West, Ahmedabad.

Rooted in Abir India’s commitment to making art accessible and nurturing creative talent, the workshops bring the joy of making into one of the city’s most-loved cultural gatherings. From 4:00 PM onwards each day, participants can work with different artistic mediums and processes in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

The programme includes:

  • Lego Printmaking: 24–26 October
  • Clay and Mural Making: 27–29 October
  • Tie & Dye Textile Art: 30 October–1 November

The workshops are open to everyone aged 13 and above, and no prior artistic experience is needed. Walk-ins are welcome. Participants can attend all three days of a workshop or join on any day they like.

The sessions are designed to encourage experimentation, participation and discovery. Visitors are invited to bring their curiosity, engage with the arts and experience the pleasure of making something by hand.

Come with your curiosity and leave with a creation of your own.

About Abir India
Abir India is an Ahmedabad-based non-profit foundation established in 2016 by natural dye expert and art entrepreneur Ruby Jagrut. Its name comes from abir, the vibrant coloured powder associated with Indian festivals. The foundation works to connect emerging artists with the wider art community through mentorship programmes, curated exhibitions, awards and digital platforms, including the art publication Abir Pothi. Through initiatives like these workshops, Abir India continues to bring art closer to the public and foster a community of makers and art lovers.

About the Ahmedabad International Book Festival
Now in its third edition, the Ahmedabad International Book Festival is one of Gujarat’s biggest celebrations of reading and culture. It grew out of the Amdavad National Book Fair, which NBT-India and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation first organised in 2012 as part of the Vanche Gujarat reading mission, and became an international festival in 2024. This year’s festival goes beyond books, with programmes on Gujarati literature, poetry, ghazals, humour, folk theatre and devotional music, as well as literary discussions and interactive activities for readers, writers, children and art lovers. It is open to visitors every day from 11 AM to 10 PM between 24 October and 1 November 2026 at the Sabarmati Riverfront.
